Heey Suga!
As we move through this season — whether you’re celebrating Christmas, Kwanzaa, Hanukkah, the Winter Solstice, or simply honoring the close of the year — I wanted to offer you a gentle reminder:
Rest is not something you have to earn.
This time of year carries deep winter energy. The days are shorter. The nights are longer. Nature itself is slowing down — and so are we, whether we realize it or not.
If your body is asking for more sleep…
If your spirit is craving quiet…
If your nervous system feels tender…
Nothing is wrong with you.
Winter — much like the menstrual phase of our cycle — is an invitation to soften, reflect, and restore. This is true whether you’re bleeding monthly, navigating perimenopause, or living fully in menopause. Our bodies still speak in seasons.
✨ Winter Care Looks Like:
- Going to bed earlier
- Choosing warm, nourishing foods
- Taking the long shower or bath
- Journaling instead of scrolling
- Saying “no” without guilt
You don’t need to explain why you’re tired.
Your body already knows.
If you’d like to sit with this wisdom a bit longer, I’ve shared a deeper reflection on the blog:
And if you’re supporting a girl — or healing your own relationship with your body — my book Emerging Gracefully was created as a tool to guide honest, loving conversations about cycles, emotions, and womanhood:
As this year winds down, I hope you find moments of peace, warmth, and presence — in whatever way feels right for you.
From my heart to yours,
Happy Holidays, Happy Holy Days, and a Gentle Winter to You.
It’s your time.
With love,
Jendayi
